The guide to swimming in Kinda canal

Kinda Canal comprises sections of excavated canal, natural waterways, and connects six lakes. Along our 8-mile-long canal, there are several beautiful bathing spots to explore this summer.

Below, we have compiled a map featuring some of them! Psst… If you happen to have a recreational boat, there are ample opportunities to claim your own island for a summer dip!”

Johannelundsbadet

Johannelundsbadet is one of Linköping’s most popular bathing spots. Locals gather here on warm summer days to take a refreshing dip in the Stångån River.  Recently, the beach area underwent a substantial renovation, featuring an upgraded sandy beach with a bathing lagoon, ladders, and docks.

This centrally located bathing spot is the most convenient for residents in Linköping. It offers an excellent distance for a bike ride with smooth terrain, and there are plenty of bus connections that stop right by the bathing area.

Viggeby badplats

Gaze out over the islands of Järnlunden, let the sun’s rays dry you on the already warmed bathing cliffs while you enjoy the archipelago atmosphere surrounding Viggebysand. The bathing area is situated in the heart of Viggeby Nature Reserve just west of Brokind, and there isn’t a warm summer day that passes without the sun-drenched cliffs being filled with eager bathers from Linköping.

The bathing spot features a sandy beach, piers, cliffs, and is wheelchair-friendly with a ramp leading into the lake. Additionally, it is accessible with a stroller. Viggeby offers bathing for everyone – a little further into the forest, the family’s best friend, the dog, can also take a dip at the designated dog bathing area.
